Five Common Used Plastic Raw Material

Plastic is a kind of high polymer compound which is made from monomers and polymerized by polycondensation or polycondensation reaction, commonly known as plastics or resins, and can change its composition and body style freely. It is composed of synthetic resins and fillers, plasticizers, stabilizers, lubricants, color materials and other additives. The main component of plastics is resin. Resin accounts for about 40% ~ 100% of the total weight of plastics. The basic properties of plastics mainly depend on the nature of resins, but additives also play an important role. Some plastics are basically made of synthetic resins and contain no or little additives, such as plexiglas and polystyrene.
PE
Polyethylene is the most productive variety in the plastics industry. Polyethylene is a kind of thermoplastic resin produced by polymerization of ethylene. In industry, too, the copolymers of ethylene with a small number of pene-olefin are included. Polyethylene odourless, non-toxic, feel like wax, has good low temperature resistance (the lowest temperature can reach 100 ~ 70 ° C), chemical stability is good, most of acid and alkali erosion (acid) with characteristics of oxidation resistance. Insoluble in ordinary solvents at room temperature, small water absorption, excellent electrical insulation. Polyethylene is commonly used in plastic wrap, vest type plastic bags, plastic food bags, bottles, buckets, kettles, etc.

PP
Polypropylene is a thermoplastic resin made by polymerization of propylene. Polypropylene is a non-toxic, odorless, tasteless opalescent polymer with a density of just 0.90--0.91g/cm3, making it one of the lightest varieties of all plastics available today. It is particularly stable to water, with a water absorption rate of just 0.01% and a molecular weight of about 81.15 million. Good molding, but due to large shrinkage rate (1%~2.5%). Thick wall products are easy to sag, for some parts with high dimensional accuracy, it is very difficult to meet the requirements, products with good surface gloss. Polypropylene is generally used in microwave oven tableware, basin, plastic bucket, thermos bottle shell, woven bag, etc.

PVC
Polyvinyl chloride (PVC) is an initiator of vinyl chloride monomer in peroxides and azo compounds. Or a polymer formed by polymerization mechanism of free radical under the action of light and heat. In the actual use of PVC materials, stabilizers, lubricants, auxiliary processing agents, color materials, impact agents and other additives are often added. It has no flammability, high strength, weather resistance and excellent geometric stability. PVC is commonly used in plastic wrap, plastic shoes and leather products, film, cable, plastic bags.
Special note: when PVC is made into flexible plastics such as plastic wrap and plastic bags, a large amount of auxiliary materials must be added. Some of these materials are poisonous and may cause cancer after release.

PS
Polystyrene is to point to by styrene monomer was synthesized by free radical addition polymerization of polymers, it is a colorless transparent thermoplastic, has the glass transition temperature higher than 100 ℃, thus is often used to make various need to bear the disposable containers of boiling water temperature, and disposable foam lunch boxes. In addition, polystyrene is also used in combs, boxes, ballpoint pen poles, children's toys, plastic shopping bags and so on.

ABS.
ABS or acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene copolymer. ABS is a kind of thermoplastic polymer material structure with high strength, good toughness and easy to be processed and shaped. ABS resin is a ternary copolymer of acrylonitrile, 1, 3-butadiene and styrene. Can be in 25 ℃ ~ 60 ℃ under the environment of performance is normal, and has good formability, processing the product surface is bright and clean, easy to dyeing and electroplating. And can be mixed with a variety of resins into blends. ABS are mainly used for alloy, plastics, and ABS brands.
